More Reading and Writing, less coding
I really love to code, the same way I really love to do websites, but unfortunately most times it's hard to always do the things that you love. For example, I had to give up my love of website making to pursue a PhD (prioritize). Now I love coding, but I have to put that love to the side because once again, I have to get a PhD. As I get older, I am realizing that coding is a time consuming and hard process (well debugging more specifically). I am also realizing that it's more important to learn from others by reading their code, and reading papers than to go off on your own to start from scratch. We always tend to think that we can do better, while in reality (at least in my case), that's usually not true. Someone told me that sometimes we underestimate how much work someone puts into writing code and we need to take that into account when you look at their work. All in all, although it's hard, I am trying really hard to learn from other's code and vision. To not just understand the code that was written, but it's purpose, the passion behind it, and it's future. Many open-source projects die due to lack of time, money, and most importantly collaboration (which is extremely difficult by the way). I hope I can learn from past failures and successes in order to advance and become more efficient. If you have gotten this far, thank you for reading, theses posts are more like a diary for myself. Bye.
