I wrote this a while back, just saw it in my draft.
It is Year 3 of my PhD and I've learned a lot (not really educational knowledge, but more of life lessons). I learned that the best motivator in life is not money, but helping others. It's actually easy for me to let myself down, but I feel really bad when I let others down. With that said, in order to help others, I need to better myself. In order to better myself, I need to read more. But it's hard to read a lot and code/debug a lot, reading for me requires more concentration than anything else that I do. So here's my new game plan:
10am - 4pm - Read and only read
6pm - 12am - Write open-source code, do websites, and other things
Obviously, my point is to remind myself that reading is the most important thing to do. If I read more, I can understand more, I can write better and so on. So here's a reminder to myself, DON'T COMPROMISE YOUR READING SCHEDULE.
By the way, Linus Torvalds spends most of his time reading
