Hello once again InternetLand,
I know it's been a while since my last post, but I never felt the urge until now. Every year, I reinstall all of my Windows machines (just to keep it fresh, because things have a tendency to add up). And I decided to try something new. I would only install the mininum number of applications and here is a list of my favorites.
-- Putty (ssh client)
-- WinSCP (sftp client)
-- Synergy (software KVM switch, I love this application)
-- Notepad2
-- Cygwin (and all of its wonderful linux tool)
-- Paint .NET (open source image editor, similar to GIMP, but much smaller)
-- ProcessExplorer
-- Windows Network Monitor (I learned a lot from this app)
-- OpenOffice (Because I do not have to use MS Office anymore)
-- Firefox/Google Chrome (Chrome is starting to grow on me)
I appreciate light-weight applications that are not use a lot of memory that's why I am really starting to hate browsing the web to run into websites with Javascript and Flash elements that can take up to 200MB. I have a Thinkpad T23 with 512 SDRAM. It's seven years old and my favorite PC, I think programmers are getting carried away thinking everyone has 2GB of DDRAM on every machine. I plan on keeping my laptop for a long time and I appreciate software that cater to it. Well, that's it for now.
Enjoy.
